New Bridges: English Curriculum

The perfect blend of textbook, tech, and teacher

  • The textbooks: The New Bridges textbook series was designed by experienced language professionals to provide students and adult English learners of all backgrounds with a culturally-appropriate curriculum based on real-world communication goals. (Purchase of PDF textbooks for each teacher and student is required.)
  • The tech: Companion lessons powered by Transparent Language Online bring New Bridges textbook lessons to life through interactive, multimedia lessons focused on speaking, listening, reading, writing, and grammar.
  • The teacher: In addition to textbook and tech access, you will be provided an Instructor Handbook, Scope and Sequence, and interactive Instructor Training Course to help with implementation of the New Bridges curriculum and the Transparent Language Online program.
  • Blending it all together: Students complete textbook sections and online lessons as pre-class prep work, arriving to your class prepared for communicative, skill-building activities.

What the curriculum includes

  • Technology companion: Designed to introduce new vocabulary and cultural topics referenced in each lesson of the New Bridges textbooks, learners will access the New Bridges vocabulary lessons in Transparent Language Online prior to the class session that corresponds to each lesson of the textbooks.
  • Supplemental reading lessons: Based on excerpts from the New Bridges textbooks, the "Exploring Culture" modules are English-only reading lessons that provide insight into American culture, while assessing reading comprehension skills. Learners will read the texts, listen to native speakers, answer comprehension questions, prepare for in-class discussions on the lesson topic, and much more!
  • Paired vocabulary lessons: The vocabulary lessons are designed to build English vocabulary and communication skills by introducing new words and phrases, grammar concepts, and cultural topics from the New Bridges textbooks. These lessons are paired for speakers of Spanish (Latin American), Portuguese (Brazilian), and Arabic (MSA) using the learner's knowledge of their native language to speed the learning of English.
  • Five levels of textbook content: The New Bridges curriculum is divided into five levels, each level with its own textbook. You can purchase one level or any combination of levels!
